August in Crossville Tennessee Kicks off with the Worlds Longest Yard Sale
August is usually a hot and dry month, and the weather so far this summer has been hotter than normal, so I’m guessing this will continue for the month of August. The big event that comes to Crossville this month is the Highway 127 Worlds Longest Yard Sale officially August 4-7th, 2022 (but tents are going up and sales are open). This sale is 690 miles long where vendors and families set up their yard sales in 6 states along this scenic highway. If you like tag sales and thrift shopping, you’ll want to be sure to check out this event! Every year, I’m amazed at the amount and assortment of items for sale, new, used, antiques, art, bikes, furniture, and plants, it's just amazing. I’m trying to think of what the coolest thing I’ve ever seen while shopping and I can’t pick just one item out of the tons and literally tons of cool stuff. This is an event to experience, but be ready for the traffic, the crazy drivers,(yes, they just jump out of the car and don’t look for on-coming traffic) be ready for the heat, sun, dust, and the feeling of junk-overwhelm. My favorite areas are around the Crossville area, just south of the hospital, then further south, down towards Pikeville. There’s usually a good field to check out just north of the Walmart, and then continue north up past Clarkrange, and be sure to stop at the General Store and the Rock-a-Billie restaurant (the milkshakes are amazing). I’m a little biased, but from my travels, the Crossville area has the best assortment and the best prices. Here are a few pictures from past years. http://www.127yardsale.com/
